Inspirational Thoughts

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Ray and I had a conversation that inspired tonight's post.

There are times in life when you stop, reflect and ask...

"What have I accomplished?"
"What do I still want to accomplish?"
"What do I want to change or improve?"

You get the point.
Have you ever done this?
I think it is healthy to contemplate these things from time to time.

Invest your time in things that are really important and lasting.
Don't waste time on things that will not matter down the road.

We only have one life to live and it goes by so fast.

A wise man once said...
"Plan as if you are going to live forever.  Live as if this was your last day."

Make this a truly meaningful week.

Spring Cleaning

Do you smell that?  Ah, spring is in the air...at least we can hope.
The other day, as I was driving into town, I saw some crocuses pushing their tiny little heads out of the grown.  Poor little things, hope they don't get a frost bite.
Well, I guess I have been bitten by the bug or something.
The spring cleaning bug that is.
This winter has been so cold.  Some days I even wondered if someone had uprooted us and set us down in the north pole.

While it is still too cold out to open the windows and air out the house, I am determined to get a head start on my spring cleaning.  You know what I mean...that deep clean that you don't do on a regular basis.  I also want to go through and declutter.
Have you noticed how over time, things just get cluttered?

Do you hear the words "spring clean" and "declutter" and cringe or feel overwhelmed when you look at everything that needs to be done?

Well, I have a challenge for you...

Everyday, pick a corner, a closet, etc. and go through it.
Clean it out, wipe it down, get rid of all the unnecessary clutter.  Be sure to get rid of all those little dust bunnies that were hibernating too.  I heard those gasps, but yes, somewhere hidden in a corner at one time or another, everyone has had a dust bunny.
Don't get distracted or leave that area until it is completely done.
I am on day two of this challenge and I have to say, I like the results.

Happy, early, Spring cleaning everyone!

Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to This Southern Heart...of mine.

My name is Connie and I am a housewife/homemaker in a rural town in Pennsylvania.  Pennsylvania...I know, I know, not a southern state.

So, let's start back at the beginning, which is the best place to start.  I was born and raised in the great state of Virginia, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.  For 24 years, I had the privilege of being raised and influenced by the many wonderful qualities the south has to offer.

Then, after 7 years of knowing someone, I actually saw him and fell head over heels in love.  So, I married the love of my life in a fairy tale wedding, left my home and followed him to PA, which I now call home.  Ray and I have been married for 10 years and yet after all this time of being in the north, I am still a southern girl at heart.

I love cooking, baking, scrapbooking, making crafts and floral arrangements, planning parties, and decorating just about anything.

Check back often as I plan on sharing many of these interests with you over the days and weeks to come.
